Top 100 Recruits vs. All-Big Ten
This was a little data collection that began in 2004 and was updated in 2017 attempting to investigate which level of recruits are likely to become All-Big Ten players. If memory serves, I believe it stemmed from a contention on the message board about how you needed those top 100 recruits, as they are the ones who become the elite players as opposed to simply solid contributors. There is certainly a good in-depth study there about how likely you are to become "elite" relative to your recruiting rank, but this isn't it. However, I suspect that the results would be similar to the football recruiting debate, in that higher rated recruits are more likely to become elite players, but that the connection is looser than the "recruitniks" would have you believe, as evidenced by the many lower rated recruits who wind up very successful. Anyway, here is the data on the All-Big Ten basketball teams from the last decade+. The data has been updated to include the most recent All-Big Ten teams.
